Walking Weekends

Friday & Saturday nights, from £165 per person

West Dorset is one of the most unspoilt parts of the UK, an area small in size but full of amazing contrasts which never fails to delight whatever time of year you visit. It is blessed with a combination of spectacular landscapes, a rich history and delicious local produce. On this walking weekend, we will ensure you get a true taste of all that this special place has to offer.

Join Martin Gershon from local tour company Marshwood Trails and discover a part of the country you will want to return to time and time again. Martin will provide a full day's guiding to one of the best bits of West Dorset. Weymouth lies at the heart of the Jurassic Coast, a world heritage designated site and some of the most spectacular parts of the South West Coast Path can be reached easily from here. Possible walking destinations include Portland, a place which even today retains an atmosphere and identity all of its own, and the location of the sailing events at the 2012 Olympic Games, or historical Abbotsbury, with its famous swannery and sub-tropical gardens.

As well as stunning views and fascinating historical insights, there will be plenty of opportunities during the weekend to enjoy Dorset food and drink, whether it's a cream tea, a local ale, or a full Dorset experience supper.

Itinerary:

Friday
From 2 pm 2 - 5pm	Check In Self-guided stroll around Weymouth
6 pm	Welcome drinks in the lounge. OPTIONAL: Dinner can be reserved at Harbouside restaurant Mallams specialising in seafood and shellfish.http://www.mallamsrestaurant.co.uk/menu (This is a suggested destination for dinner and is not included in the package price, please reserve a table via the hotel on 01305 761190).
Saturday
8 am - 10 am	Hearty Dorset Breakfast at B+B Weymouth
10:30 am	Depart via minibus to start of walk
	Walking destinations could include Portland, Abbotsbury, Portesham, Osmington, Durdle Door. Could be themed (smuggling, natural history, hill forts, food and wine etc).
1 pm	Packed lunch provided by The Phoenix Bakery Also possibility of lunch and wine tasting at Portesham winery
2:30 pm	Guided walk continues Could include visit to local places of interest (tour of Hardy country / Lawrence of Arabia, Bovington tank museum, Abbotsbury Gardens etc).
5:00 pm	Return to B+B Weymouth for afternoon tea
7:30 pm	Flavours of Dorset Table enjoyed in the convivial atmosphere of B+B Weymouth
Sunday
8 am - 10 am	Full Cooked Breakfast at B+B Weymouth
11 am	Checkout.
