Photography Weekends Weymouth Devon

Friday & Saturday nights, £165 per person

Explore the Jurassic Coastline with its rock formations that record 185 million years of the earth's history; stunning unspoilt cliff walks and beaches, the Jurassic Coast provides an inspiring location for a landscape photography break in Dorset. This naturally stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site is on the B+B Weymouth's doorstep and we have joined forces with local photographer Greg Thurtle http://www.thurtlepower.com/ to offer budding landscape photographers the chance to learn how to successfully capture the beauty of the Dorset coast on camera.

The photography course will concentrate on one of the most geographically interesting areas of the Jurassic Coast - Chesil Beach. Chesil is one of the finest barrier beaches in the world. It is made up of pebbles and shingle and has stood up to the full force of the Atlantic for thousands of years. It protects the Fleet, which is the largest tidal lagoon in Britain and a place of international importance for its birds and wildlife. This beach has inspired many creative talents including Ian McEwan with his novel 'On Chesil Beach'.

Course Tutor
Greg Thurtle is a wedding and landscape photographer based in Dorset. His specialities lie in contemporary wedding photography, corporate events, babies and family portraits. He is passionate about the Dorset Coast, experimenting with how this can be captured photographically and has run numerous workshops helping other photographers fine tune their skills. His courses have led onto more one2one teachings as participants always come back for additional tuition and advice. Greg's passion for the Jurassic Coast, photography and imparting his photographic knowledge make him the perfect choice for our photographic weekend break.

Itinerary:

Friday
From 2 pm	Check In
4 pm - 6 pm	Welcome drinks in the lounge. This is a chance to meet your fellow attendees and your host over drinks. OPTIONAL: Dinner can be reserved at Harbouside restaurant 'Mallams' specialising in seafood and shellfish. http://www.mallamsrestaurant.co.uk/menu (This is a suggested destination for dinner and is not included in the package price - please reserve a table via the hotel on 01305 761190).
Saturday
From 7:30 am	Hearty Dorset Breakfast at B+B Weymouth
10 am	Meet in the B+B Weymouth guest lounge for coffee and a safety/logistical brief
10:30 am	Minibus transfer to Chesil Beach
11 am	Two hour photo-shoot to include tuition on basic camera setup / tripod / filters. One2One with each participant to check their progress (include camera settings/best angles/areas to watch/look out for)
1 pm	Lunch at The Cove on Chesil Beach - The Cove House Inn (not included in the package cost)
2 pm - 3 pm	More landscape photography with further tuition and assistance given to each group member where necessary. Afternoon also includes one to one tuition, experimentation with filters, different apertures and shutter speeds.
3:15 pn	Minibus collects to return to B+B Weymouth
3.45 pm - 4:30 pm	Showcase and feedback session with afternoon tea provided by The Phoenix Bakery served in the breakfast room at the B+B Weymouth.

Sunday
